LaVeda (Grable) Bohling

   LaVeda (Grable) Bohling was born to Alfred and Freda (Kuhlmann) Grable on July 26, 1936 near Elk Creek, Nebraska.  She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church, rural Humboldt on August 23, 1936 and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh on April 2, 1950.  Her father passed away when she was five years old and she helped raise her two younger sisters.

    LaVeda attended grades first and second at a country school while she lived with her aunt Ida and uncle Fred Geyer.  She attended third through twelfth grade at Tecumseh Public Schools. 

  She was united in marriage to Ivan “Ike” Bohling on October 30, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  To this union three sons were born.  LaVeda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and also worked as a secretary for the Lincoln Telephone Company in Tecumseh for 32 years until her retirement. 

   LaVeda enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, auctions, collecting antiques and reading.  LaVeda was involved in getting the new library in Tecumseh.  She became a master gardener later in life.

   She passed away at her home in Tecumseh on March 26, 2017 at the age of 80 years and 8 months.

  LaVeda is survived by her sons, Craig Bohling of Fort Worth, Texas and Roger Bohling and fiancee’ Becky Pella of Tecumseh, three granddaughters, Alyssa of Omaha, Andrea of Lincoln and Brooke of Tecumseh, five great-grandchildren, step brother, Wayne Geyer and wife Marilyn of Elk Creek, brother-in-law, Willis Bohling of Tecumseh and sister-in-law, Edna Anderson of Hamilton, Montana and numerous nieces and nephews. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan, “Ike” (Dec.11, 2004), infant son, Michael, sisters MarCella Goracke and husband Larry and LeOta Badertscher and husband William, “Bill”, and nephew, Daryl Badertscher.  

   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska, with Rev. Jason Wolter officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

   Memorials may go to the Tecumseh Library Foundation. 

   Interment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
