Kay Pilkington was born on January 13, 1967 to Sheila and Bryan Pilkington.  She was educated at Westleigh High School and graduated with the Class of 1983.

She married Wayne Hockey and they had 3 sons.  Kay worked as a caregiver for elderly people as long as her health allowed.  Her asthma gave her reason to retire early.  Her British accent, flaming red hair and outgoing personality afforded her a wealth of fast friends wherever she went. She never knew a stranger.  Kay’s travels took her to and fro across the Atlantic Ocean and with each trip she met more of the locals and was more deeply immersed in community life in Tecumseh, Nebraska, USA.

Kay loved music, children, elderly folks, dogs, squirrels and taking photos of animals and people.  She was very good with a camera; some of her most favored subjects were food!  She photographed most every plate of food set before her!  She was crazy about coffee and added so much milk that she got a calcium load with every cup!  Kay admitted being addicted to the Mrs. Jeffries Victorian mystery series and devoured every volume she could get!

Her life ended on May 11, 2017 when she suffered a stroke at Salford Royal Hospital, Salford, Manchester.  Kay was an organ donor so her legacy of love will live on in other people.  She left behind a host of friends who will cherish her memory and smile about the many good times that were shared.

A Memorial service for Kay was held on May 24 at St. Mary’s Church Lower Ince in England.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila, and her father, Bryan.

Others left to treasure her memory are sons: Jonathan Hockey, Andrew Hockey and Stacey Walmsley and David Hockey and Chel Neale, grandchildren: Carla, Bradley, Jacob and Poppy; A.J. and Bailey; Mia, Dylan and Loui, brother:  Stephen and wife, Fran Pilkington, many prison wives around the world, her collection of friends in and around Tecumseh, Nebraska, and all those whose lives she touched, will miss Kay Pilkington with heavy hearts as well.

A Celebration of Kay’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Tecumseh Public Library with Pastor Eric Biehl officiating.   A reception will follow at 596 Broadway Street Tecumseh, Nebraska.   Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
