Jeanette (Neben) Miller Ulmer 82 of Pawnee City, Nebraska died peacefully in her sleep after a short bout with cancer on August 2, 2016 at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital.  Jeanette was born on July 18th, 1934 in rural Dawson County in Nebraska to Ernest and Martha (Knispel) Neben.  She attended a rural parochial school in elementary school and graduated from Overton High School.  She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for three and half years, 20 hours short of graduating.  She met Billy Miller while attending UNL and they were married August 14, 1954. To this union five children were born.  Billy and Jeanette lived in Texas while Billy served in the Air Force.  After leaving the military they returned to Aurora, NE.  In Aurora Jeanette played the organ for the EUB church, directed the EUB men’s chorus, and she and Billy did square dancing and belonged to a Young Farmer’s Group.  Jeanette also grew a large garden entering many flower arrangements at the fair each year.  In 1968 Billy and Jeanette purchased a farm five miles west of Pawnee City where they resided until their deaths, Billy in 1996.  In 2003 Jeanette married Vance Ulmer.  Jeanette and Vance traveled, attended baseball games, and learned all they could about windmills which they shared with others during their many presentations until Vance’s death on May 11, 2016.  Jeanette kept herself busy making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in addition to painting, writing poetry, crocheting, knitting, woodwork, gardening, playing the organ for church, and directing the choir.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Billy and Vance, and five brothers-in-law.  She is survived by her five children, David and Mary Miller, Stephen and Rose Miller, Susanne and Mike Neilsen, Rebecca and Mitch Neilsen, and Mark Miller; 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Patrick, Elizabeth, Michael, Amanda, Anne, Beth, Stephanie, Laura and Aimee, and seven great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her five sisters and three brothers.
