Darlene B (Hothan) Schnittker

   Darlene B. Schnittker was born on December 30, 1926 at Violet, Nebraska to Herman and Hallie (Lunsford) Hothan.   She attended K-12 school in Pawnee City, Nebraska. 

   On March 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Don Schnittker before he was getting ready to be sent overseas during WWII.  After Don’s discharge from the Navy in 1946, Don and Darlene moved to a farm at Malcolm, Nebraska. They later moved to the farm at Crab Orchard where they farmed together until Don’s death on November 26, 1984.    After Don passed away, Darlene moved into Tecumseh.  In her spare time, Darlene enjoyed crocheting until her eyesight failed.  She also enjoyed visiting with friends by phone.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Crab Orchard.  Darlene passed away May 14, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 14 days.

   She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Snyder of Tecumseh, granddaughter, Yvonne Tinney and husband Frank and their two children of Richmond, VA, several cousins and friends.

   Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hallie and husband Don. 

   Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Crab Orchard Cemetery, Crab Orchard, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating.  A register book will be available at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Darlene’s honor to the American Lung Association, 8990 W Dodge Rd #226, Omaha, NE 68114.   Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
