Betty Lou (Peters) Lippold

Betty L. Lippold, 89 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Premier Estates formerly Pawnee Manor.  She was born  April 2, 1927 to William and Elda (Gottula) Peters in Elk Creek.  Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s  Lutheran Church where she was a life long member. 

Betty graduated from Elk Creek High School in 1944. She then attended Lincoln School of Commerce in 1945  and received  a diploma in Stenography.  She was employed by Latsch Bros. in Lincoln where she met her future husband.

Betty married Glen M. Lippold on February 14, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. They returned to Elk Creek and remained there until Glen and Betty sold their business and moved to Pawnee City to be closer to family. 

Betty was member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 62 years and St. Peter’s Dorcas Society.  She worked most of her married life keeping the books for her husband’s business Glen’s Repair in Elk Creek.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elda Peters, infant brother, Roger, brother LeRoy and brother-in-law, Paul Jeffery.

Betty is survived by her husband Glen of Pawnee City, NE, son, Gayle (Amy) Lippold of Berthoud, ,CO, daughter Karen (Bruce) Haughton of Pawnee City, NE, sisters, Willa Jean Rottman of Humboldt, Donna Jeffery of Canon City, CO, Diane (Dick) Grabow of Cedar, MN, and brother, Royce (Sheila) Peters of Elk Creek, NE, four grandchildren, Ryan, Angie, Aaron and Megan, six great-grandchildren,Ryly, Brady, Hunter, Stella, Jackson and Ayden, sister-in-law, Juanita Peters of Elk Creek and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial service 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016  at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska. Officiating Reverend Robert Schermbeck. Visitation: Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 202 North 3rd Street, Tecumseh, Nebraska.  Inurnment in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek.
