Steven Paul Lillich

Steven Paul Lillich was born October 8, 1957 to George and Doris (McCoy) Murphy Lillich in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  He was baptized October 27, 1957 and later confirmed in May 2, 1971 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska.  He grew up on the farm west of Elk Creek and attended grade school at Elk Creek Public School, 7th and 8th grades at St. Peter’s Parochial School and graduated from Elk Creek High School with the Class of 1975.  After graduation, Steve continued his education at SCC Milford and received a degree in auto mechanics.

He was united in marriage to Julie Hamilton at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He welcomed her daughters Heather and Danielle into his family.  This union was also blessed with twins, Jacob and Emily Lillich.

Steve worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for a number of years.  He later worked for the Steamfitters Local 464 for 17 years until his retirement in 2023. In his spare time, Steve loved being outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting.  His family was very important to him and he helped raised his step-daughters as his own.  Steve was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2024, one day shy of his 67th birthday.

Left to mourn his passing are his twin children, Jacob Lillich and Emily Lillich, step-daughters, Heather Busboom and Danielle Barta and husband Nate, former wife Julie Hamilton, twin sisters Joan Peters and husband Jeff and June Stratman and husband Bernie, brother-in-law Lloyd Beethe, and former brother-in-law Greg Hamilton, step-grandchildren, Kyla Williams and Preston Busboom, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marian Beethe and parents-in-law Jerry and Charlene Hamilton.   

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Hugh Giesbrecht officiating.   Here is the link to the livestream of the service:  https://www.facebook.com/100057240888156/videos/1623881745191823

A register book will be available for signatures from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family's choice.

Graveside services will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
