Shirley June Saunders

Shirley June Saunders was born to Hiram and Mabel (Armstrong) Dilley on June 18, 1936 in Big Springs, Nebraska. Shirley received her schooling in Lewellen and graduated from Lewellen High School. 

Shirley was united in marriage to Clyde Saunders on  August 31, 1956 in Oshkosh, Nebraska. The couple made their home near Oshkosh where they raised their family. Shirley enjoyed sewing, reading and country western dancing.  Her husband Clyde passed away in 1978.  After he passed away, Shirley lived in Missouri for a time and then moved to Glendale, AZ.  In 2013 she moved to Tecumseh to be closer to family and when her health declined she became a resident of Ridgeview Towers in 2015, later transferring to Belle Terrace.  She passed away there on March 3, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

 She is survived by her daughters, Mickie Dietz and husband Mike of Norfolk, Sally Estes and husband Pat of Mexico, Missouri and Cindy DeCoste and husband Charles of Ogallala, sons, Gene Saunders and wife Pam of Kearney, Chuck Saunders and wife Gina of Lewellen and Mike Saunders and wife Connie of Kingdom City, Missouri, fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, sister, Nadine Peterson of Springfield, Missouri, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Penny Dilley of Alliance and brother-in-law, Bob Swanson of Lewellen. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde Saunders, grandson, Tim Baum, great-granddaughter, Jessica, brothers, Gerald Dilley, Merlin Dilley and Jim Dilley and sisters, Donna Swanson, Faye Briggs, Sharon Hood and Joyce Mick.

Shirley's wishes were to be cremated and no services to be held.  Private family burial will be held at a later date.
