Sherie Sapp-Stutheit Obituary

Sherie Lee Sapp-Stutheit, 90, formerly of Tecumseh, living in Lincoln, passed away at CHI Health/St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on November 7, 2022.  She was born to Robert Vernon and Dorothy Catherine (Bentzinger) Curry on February 1, 1932, in rural Tecumseh.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.  She attended District 16 country school from first through sixth grade.  She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1950.

On December 23, 1953, she married Harold Lee Sapp.  Through their marriage they had three children: Tyler, Lori and Diane.  After the love of her life, Harold, passed away in 1990, she married Ervin Stutheit.  She was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Tecumseh serving in various roles which included secretary of the Priscilla’s, VBS teacher, Sunday School teacher and Midweek teacher.  Sherie worked a variety of jobs, but the job that gave her the most joy was her 30+ years in the Tecumseh Public Schools food service.  After attending classes at Southeast Community College and receiving her Dietary Associate Degree, she became the manager of Food Service until her retirement.

Sherie loved spending time with her family and friends, which included two card party groups, Friends in Council Literary Book Club, women’s bowling league, shopping and traveling.  She is famously known for decorating her home for all the seasons.

Sherie is survived by one son, Tyler (Jeanette) Sapp of Lincoln; two daughters, Lori (Mark) Reinke of Lincoln and Diane (Mike) Wise of Boston, MA; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Robert (Ann) Curry of Tecumseh and multiple nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Harold Lee and Ervin, and sister Karen.
