Sarah Ann Nims

Sarah Ann Nims, 63, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on February 27, 1962, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Richard and Martha Jane (Miller) Nims.  She was raised in Humboldt where she attended public school and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1980.  After graduation, Sarah attended Peru State College where she studied early childhood education. She later received her Certified Nursing Assistant license and worked at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt for many years.

Sarah was a generational legacy of the Humboldt community, coming from a long line of Nims family members.  She was an active member of the Humboldt community to which she loved dearly.  Sarah was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #134 and Rebekah’s Crescent Lodge #100 both of Humboldt where she helped the organizations in many different capacities.  She was a lifetime member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, helped with funeral luncheons, and was willing to help with any church activities, including most recently, being the video technician during church services.  

Sarah passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Colonial Acres Assisted Living having reached the earthly age of sixty-three years, two months, and twenty-six days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; both paternal and maternal grandparents, and other relatives. 

Sarah is survived by her cousins: Jacque Nims Westling and husband James of Phoenix, AZ; Virginia Mueller Traylor of Baton Rouge, LA; Lisa Mueller-Alfonso of Apex, NC; Walter “Trey” Miller II of Longview, TX; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Lori Stevens and Dorothy Smith officiating.  Interment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon- 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
