Ruth Phyllis Lantz was born to Ernest & Gertrude (Beethe) Lade on October 20,1935 at the home of Doc Ziegler in Vesta, Nebraska. She went to meet Jesus April 27, 2024, with family by her side. Ruth grew up with her large family on a farm 4 miles south of Vesta. Shortly after graduating from Lewiston High School, she married Ralph Lantz on May 16, 1954, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska, spending their honeymoon at the Lewiston School Picnic. (So Romantic!) After spending a few years in rural Pawnee County, they moved to the Lade family farm where they raised their 3 ‘wonderful’ daughters Cin, Deb & Tam. In 1977 they moved to Beatrice where Ruth worked in the meat department at Safeway & then Beatrice State Developmental Center in the maintenance department as a painter. Beatrice was their home until their retirement in 1997. Wanting to be closer to their family they moved back to Tecumseh, where they made their home on the north edge of town. Sadly, Ralph got sick and passed away January 5, 2001.
Ruth was an active member of United Methodist Church in Tecumseh. For more than 22 years she also volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, assisting wherever willing hands could help.
Ruthie loved sports, playing softball in the Pawnee City Women’s league with her baby girls somewhat content watching from a grungy old playpen but her love for playing ended when Ralph told her “Your last hit would have been a home run if you could just run faster!” She never played again.
Ruth was a woman known by many names Mom – Mama - Yes Mother Dear - GG – Gramma Gert – Aunt Gertie – Aunt Ruth – Ruthie. No matter the name you knew her by or the job she was doing, she was always working hard and when the work was over, she LOVED to have a good time!!
Left to cherish the memories are daughters Cindy Field (Randy), Debi Rinne (Stacy Haake), Tammie Parrish (Terry). Grandkids - Emilie Rinne (Judd Remmers), Lantz Rinne (Lauren), Stashia Haake-Keller, Shannon Haake, Tracy Andersen (Adam), Tara Guy (Matt), Laura Mills (Ryan) and Ben Swanson. Great Grandkids – Carter Mills, Allie Swanson, Wes Swanson, Rikki Remmers, Brooklyn Remmers, Parker Rinne, Madelyn Rinne, Addi Andersen, Averie Andersen and Tucker Guy. Sister Gerry Gorton and a host of wonderful family & great friends.
Always remember “Don’t worry – Be happy!” & “Everything is gonna be alright!”
