Ruth Ellen (Eis) Flentje

Ruth Ellen (Eis) Flentje was born on November 16, 1938, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Rudolph and Bessie (Klossner) Eis.  She graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1956.  Ruth then attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated in 1960 with a BS in Microbiology.

In June of 1960, Ruth was united in marriage to Stanley Keith Flentje.  To this union two children, William and Julie, were born.  After marriage, Ruth became a full-time wife, supporting her husband in his military career and was a loving mother to her children.  Ruth found joy in the simple pleasures of life.  She loved dogs and especially enjoyed watching the animals and birds on her property in San Marcos, Texas.  She was an avid bowler and a devoted fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. 

Ruth passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at The Palisades nursing facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado having reached the earthly age of eighty-seven years, one month, and twenty-six days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stan Flentje (2009), brother David Eis (1954), sisters: Mary (Don) Hessler (2011), Betty (Bill) Marfice (2010), and Annabelle (Melvin) Rumbaugh (2025).

Ruth is survived by her children, William Flentje of Colorado Springs, CO; Julie Flentje of San Marcos, TX; and 3 grandchildren: Olas Skogerson, Olivia Flentje, and Yon Flentje.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street, Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.  Interment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Humboldt United Methodist Church.
