Rudy “Junior” Eugene Fritch, Jr. was born on November 20, 1932, in rural Table Rock, Nebraska to Rudy Sr. and Esther (Boehmer) Fritch. He was raised on the family farm near Table Rock and attended District #32 (The Rock School) country school. Junior then attended Humboldt High School in Humboldt where he graduated with the class of 1950. On February 1, 1953, Junior entered active duty in the U.S Marine Corps where he served his country during the Korean Conflict.
On October 23, 1954, he was united in marriage by Rev. Ward Merritt to Dorothy Hunzeker at the home of her parents Ben and Josephine Hunzeker. To this union three sons, Alan, Kenneth and Donald were born. Junior was honorably discharged from active duty in the Marine Corps on January 31, 1955. He then returned home to Table Rock where he continued farming and raised his family. He was a rural mail carrier in the Table Rock area from 1980-2000.
Junior was a very active community member serving on different boards, committees, clubs and organizations in the area. He served on the Pawnee County Rural Water District for 31 years, Table Rock School Board from 1970-1974, ASCS Soil Mapper in the 60’s and 70’s and sexton of the Bohemian Cemetery for many years. Junior was a member of the Table Rock American Legion Post #289, Pawnee VFW and the ZCBJ Lodge.
Junior passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-seven years, two months and twenty-seven days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Edward Fritch, sister-in-law Irene (Carl) Albers and brother-in-law Clark Hunzeker
Junior is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Fritch of Humboldt, NE; sons: Alan (Julie) Fritch of Valparaiso, NE; Ken (Lillian) Fritch of Beatrice, NE; Don (Kathy) Fritch of Fairbury, NE; grandchildren: Nathan (Carrie) Fritch of Colleyville, TX; Kelly (Dale) Haug of Centralia, KS; Jason (Lori) Fritch of Henderson, NV; Steven (Jennifer) Fritch of Rapid City, SD; Dustin (Amanda) Fritch of Beatrice, NE; Megan (Matt) Holes of Chetek, WI; Jared Fritch of Beatrice, NE; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Marge Hunzeker of Pawnee City, NE; sister-in-law Elma Lee Buchholz of Table Rock, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the Table Rock American Legion or Bohemian Cemetery Association.
Interment will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, east of Table Rock, with full military honors conducted by the Table Rock American Legion Post # 289.
