Ruby Meister Obituary

Ruby Irene (Wagner) Meister, 90, of Tecumseh, Nebraska, passed away April 1, 2023 in Syracuse, Nebraska. She was born to Oscar and Lorena (Bartels) Wagner on January 13, 1933 on her parent's farm near Vesta, Nebraska.  Ruby was the oldest of three children.  She attended District 8 country school, and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1950 as class valedictorian.  After graduation Ruby went on to work for Raymond Morrissey for several years. 

Ruby married Paul John Meister, Jr. on September 5, 1954 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Maple Grove. To this union three children were born.  Ruby loved to travel, work in her flower gardens, play cards, especially Pinochle, play the piano and volunteer at the former Belle Terrace, where she did devotionals on Wednesday mornings.   She taught piano lessons in her home for many years.  Ruby also worked as a librarian at the Tecumseh Public Library from April, 1977 until she retired on April 30, 2002.  She was involved with Senior Citizens in Tecumseh where she served as secretary.  Ruby was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh where she was involved with adult Sunday School, women's FBW club, helped with Awanas and accompanied the church choir.  After her health started to fail, Ruby watched church services on Facebook every Sunday. Her husband Paul passed away December 31, 2015.

She is survived by her three children:  Brad (Tammy) Meister of Wilber, Kim (Brian) McAnally of Elkhorn and Cheryl Meister of Tecumseh, grandchildren, Pat (Jill) Meister of Wilber, Andy (Crystal) Meister of Malcolm and Jason McAnally of Vancouver, WA, six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Ines Meister of Tecumseh, other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Paul, grandsons Scott Meister and Jarrett McAnally, brother Lester Wagner, sister Melva Benson, brother-in-law Donald Meister and special aunt Erma Wright.                                          

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. The family requests casual dress. The service will also be livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary Facebook page for those unable to attend.  

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the First Baptist Church, Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Private family inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
