Roy Dietrick Obituary

Roy Gene Dietrick, 78, of rural Humboldt, Nebraska was born on January 26, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Joseph Roy and Wilma Mae (Bertram) Dietrick. He was raised in Lincoln where he received his schooling.  Roy attended Southeast High School in Lincoln and graduated with the class of 1965.  He then continued his education studying architecture at Southeast Community College.

On April 12, 1969, Roy was united in marriage to Irene Sophia Meyer at the Lutheran Church in Otoe, Nebraska.  To this union two daughters, Rhonda and Brenda, were born.  The couple raised their family in a few different areas before moving to their farmhouse near Humboldt, Nebraska in 1990.  While raising his family, Roy had many different occupations over the years.  He was a Draftsman for Brunswick, an estimator for Millard Lumber, helped with designing the seismics at Cooper Nuclear Power Station, and designed hog confinement buildings and a few houses.  Most notable and longest occupation was Seating Installation Specialist, where Roy installed indoor telescopic bleachers, outdoor aluminum bleachers, auditorium and stadium seating, lockers, library shelving, science lab equipment, and basketball backstops.

Roy had many hobbies and interests over the years when he wasn’t busy with all his jobs.  He was a skilled carpenter and loved his sawmills.  Roy loved woodworking and building furniture which was evident throughout their house. He could make anything he put his mind to.  Roy enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, baking cookies and “building” pizzas with his grandkids, and flying his plane any chance he got.

Roy passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at his home near Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-eight years, ten months and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Scott Dietrick, and his sister Mary Jo Dietrick.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Irene or rural Humboldt, daughters: Rhonda Mueller and husband Tim of Auburn, NE; Brenda French and husband Lee of Morrill, KS; grandchildren: Brittany Mueller, Jared Mueller, Annalee French, and Avalynn French, brothers: Dale Dietrick and wife Ronda of Eugene, OR; Monte Dietrick of Lincoln, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
