Our hearts are hurting in the announcement of the passing of our mother, sister, aunt and friend Roxanne Sailors. She was born on February 11, 1957, in Barada, Nebraska to Duane and Barbara (Stewart) Sailors. Roxanne attended country school and later graduated from Southeast Consolidated High School with the class of 1975. She began her working career at the age of 18 in Falls City after graduating high school. Roxanne moved to Dodge City, Kansas to start her family, and later moved to the Pacific Northwest for many years living in Wenatchee, Washington and Ocean Shores, Washington for a dream of living on the ocean side.
Roxanne later in life moved back to Nebraska to reconnect with her old classmate Wesley Fritsch. Roxanne and Wes worked traveling around doing power plant outages. After a few years, she found her final career working as the Editor for the Humboldt Standard newspaper in Humboldt, Nebraska, bringing Wes with her to help. Wes passed away suddenly in 2022. Roxanne then met Tex in August of 2024 and 3 months later it was discovered Roxanne had cancer. Forcing her to finally take leave in August of 2025 due to health issues fully anticipating returning to work. Roxanne passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, in Johnson, Nebraska, having reached the earthly age of sixty-eight years, nine months, and six days. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son Ryan Schulenberg, brothers Todd and Jason Sailors, grandparents Lloyd and Roxie (Smith) Sailors, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Roxanne is survived by her three children: Dustin Ferguson of Murrieta, CA; Jordyn Ferguson of East Wenatchee, WA; Breana (Mitchell) Stier and husband Daniel of Wildemore, CA; her brother Greg Sailors and his husband Lon Thompson, sisters: Gina (Sailors) Noel and husband Terry and Joni Sailors, all of Lincoln, NE: best friend and boyfriend Rick “Tex” Whittlesey of Johnson, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
