Ronald “Ron” Edwin Schmidt was born to Edwin and Wimda (Hoehne) Schmidt on October 12, 1942 on the family farm in Sterling, Nebraska. Ron graduated from Sterling High School in 1960.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Klein on June 22, 1962. This union was blessed with two daughters, Debra Ann and Stacy Lynn.
In his younger years, Ron worked on the Brinkman family farm and at Store Kraft in Beatrice. He later worked many years for Brinkman Bros. in Tecumseh and the City of Tecumseh Department of Utilities prior to his retirement in 2007. He was an avid bowler and a devoted fireman for the Tecumseh Volunteer Fire Department.
He and Marge were members of the St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling.
Ron’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Through their years of playing sports and other activities, he and Marge rarely missed a game or event. He also enjoyed playing cards with them – Crazy Eights, Go Fish and Old Maid were their favorites! They brought him so much joy and he was very proud to be their grandpa.
