Ronald Alan Pieratt, 90, of Filley, lived a long, full, and celebrated life. He went home to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022, after a brief illness. Ron was born on November 26, 1931 to Adelia (Thea) Smith and Eugene Myers. He was adopted soon after by Monroe and Leona Pieratt of Vesta, NE. After a time of military service in Okinawa after WWII he returned home and worked on his family's farm west of town. He married his sweetheart Eileen in 1951, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage last August.
Ron was also a serial entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses over the years. Ron and Eileen retired to Filley, NE where he worked hard right up to the end of his days and cared for his family well. Ron loved to be outdoors working with his hands. He especially enjoyed fishing and building huge bonfires out in the timber with his family. Farming and later gardening were a passion he gave many hours to, with great satisfaction. His sweet corn was the best. He also enjoyed traveling around the US and the world, with special trips to Europe, The Holy Land, Brazil and to see the projects of Children's Relief International in Africa.
Ron was a lifelong follower of Jesus. His faith was an integral part of his life and work, a sure source of strength and guidance. Ron attended various churches through his long life, always enthused as to what he might learn each Sunday. He was a loving and active grandfather, eager to show his grandkids a new skill on the farm, take them fishing, give them wagon rides pulled by a John Deere tractor, or let them take his lawnmower for a spin. At the very end of his earthly life, he requested that 2 Thessalonians be read to him, and told stories of old friends and his courtship with Eileen. Ron loved much, and therefore was much loved in return. He lived in the hope of the resurrection.
He is survived by his wife Eileen (Bohling) Pieratt of Filley, his sister Pam (Myers) Bias of Norman, OK, his son Alan Pieratt and wife Melody of Rockwall, TX, his daughters Lisa VanWinkle and husband Brett of Tecumseh and Laura Marshall and husband Perry of Berwyn, IL and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who all brought him great joy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. The service was also livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page and a link to the livestream is now available on Ron's tribute wall.
