Robert (Bob) M. Beadell, Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Blue Island, IL, on August 12, 1953, to Robert and Vivian Beadell. He grew up in Lincoln, NE with his four sisters. Bob attended Lincoln East High School. He won a play writing competition and received a full ride scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He completed his Bachelor of Science in Education at UNL, and then completed a Master of Fine Arts at UNL specializing in Play Writing. In 1982, he married Ginny Hutt and they were married for 41 amazing years. Bob and Ginny moved to Tecumseh where they raised their four children. He fulfilled his passion of teaching, directing plays, and coaching the speech team at Tecumseh High School. He also had a love of music, his favorite group to listen to was The Beatles. He was a published poet and playwright.
Bob was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration/Lewy Body Dementia in 2003. This diagnosis led to his early retirement from teaching. His wife Ginny, along with their children, began a 20 year caregiving journey with him from home. He had a love for reading and when able read through the years after his diagnosis. This was most recently paired with the joy of having his granddaughters, Annabelle and Eleanor in the home. Bob shared his love of books with them so their favorite place was on grandpa’s lap to read together. He was even blessed with the opportunity to read a book to Berkley, his 10 day old granddaughter.
Bob is survived by his wife Ginny Beadell of Lincoln, NE and his daughters Alexandra and her husband Blake Goering and children Connor and Berkley of Auburn, NE, Gabrielle and her husband Eric Anderson of Eau Claire, WI, and Madeline and her husband Brennan Frierson and daughters Annabelle and Eleanor of Lincoln, NE, daughter-in-law Kayla Beadell of Vancouver, WA, stepmother Lorraine Beadell, sisters Holli (Gerard) VanValkenburg, Becky (Chuck) Steuben, Mary DiBartolo, and Susan (Todd) Phipps, brothers-in-law Chris (Gail) Hutt and Dan Hutt, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Dr. Noah Beadell, father Robert Beadell Sr., mother Vivian Beadell, father-in-law Orville Hutt, mother-in-law Carol Hutt, uncle Edward and aunt Pat Doberstein, uncle Roger and aunt Sylvia Dobie, brothers-in-law Tom Hutt, Jim Hutt and Joel DiBartolo, sister-in-law Sally Hutt and niece Ann Hutt.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Makena Riungu officiating. The service was also livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary Facebook page and the link to the livestream is now available at the bottom of Bob's webpage.
A register book will be available for signatures at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may go to the family’s choice.
