Robert C. Armknecht

Robert Charles Armknecht was born October 3, 1929 to Harry and Alma (Wilken) Armknecht on the family farm near Cook, Nebraska. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Cook High School in 1947. Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Brandt on June 5, 1949 at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Osage. To this union four children were born.Bob and Ruth farmed and raised livestock until retiring and moving into Cook. In their earlier years, Bob and Ruth loved square dancing and Sunday afternoons gathering with family and friends. Bob worked for the Johnson County ASCS office where he made many friends and acquaintances. Bob was also active in the Conklin business and Grace Lutheran Church where he served on church council for several terms. Family was very important to Bob and he loved extended family reunions and getting together and telling stories. He enjoyed working on his tractors and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a beloved father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.He passed away April 29, 2022 in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 92 years.Bob is survived by his sons, Bruce Armknecht and wife Carol of Cook, James Armknecht and special friend Colleen Williams of Talmage, daughters, Janice Rader of Cook and Diane Smith and husband David of Cook, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Irene Treaster and Viola Armknecht of Omaha, brother-in-law John Brandt and wife Janis of Syracuse and nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alma, step-mother Leta, wife Ruth, daughter-in-law Sandra, brother, Albert and wife Arline and brothers and sisters-in-law Don Treaster, Harold and Mardell Seeba and Donald and Teresa Brandt. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook, Nebraska with Rev. Jim Helgren officiating.
