Richard Shafer Obituary

Richard Gail Shafer, 71, formerly of Wilber, Nebraska was born on January 4, 1947 in Barada, Nebraska to Frank and Laura (Sailors) Shafer. He attended various schools near Shubert and later graduated from Shubert High School with the class of 1965. Richard worked for many years as a custodian at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber, Nebraska.

Richard passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the age of 71 years,11 months, and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jeannine (Gene) Hanika and Karen (Nick) Painovich, a brother Delman Shafer and an infant brother James Garland Shafer.

Richard is survived by his sister Reva Marquez and her husband Eugene of Shubert, NE; sister-in-law Connie Shafer of Auburn, NE; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Harris Cemetery in Barada, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
