Rex W Packwood

  Rex W. Packwood, 70, of Tecumseh, passed away at The Ambassador Nursing Home in Lincoln, Nebraska, Monday, October 29, 2018. He was born to William and Helen (Elenga) Packwood on January 27, 1948 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  Rex lived in Tecumseh his entire life.  He attended District 23 Country School through the 8th grade and Tecumseh High School, graduating in 1966.  During and after high school Rex worked at Hutt Oil filling station until 1968 when he began his career at the State of Nebraska Department of Roads.  He was a dedicated employee for 43 years and retired in 2011.

  He was married to Beverly Jean Bennett in 1984.  Rex enjoyed traveling, cars, motorcycles, being outdoors, attending any events of his grand kids and morning coffee and camping with friends. He was an avid Nebraska Husker and Green Bay Packers football fan.  

  Rex is survived by his wife Beverly of Tecumseh, son Jeff Esser of Nebraska City, daughter Jerri Beckmann and husband Kevin of Syracuse, grandchildren, Jerry Schumacher and wife Michelle, Kaci Wilkinson and husband Jeremy, Alyx Beckmann and Payton Beckmann, great-grandchildren, Matthew Suttliff and Cedric Schumacher.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen "Fannie" Packwood and brother, Sherwood "Woody" Packwood.

   A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor LuRae Hallstrom officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

   Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

   Inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
