Regina Rae (Dittmer) Doty

Regina Rae (Dittmer) Doty was born to Homer and Dorothy Mae (Connors) Dittmer on November 14, 1949 in Geneva, Nebraska.  After her father Homer passed away, Dorothy married Louis Rauner and the family re-located to Tecumseh, Nebraska.  She graduated from Tecumseh High School with the Class of 1967.  After high school, Gina continued her bookkeeping education at Lincoln School of Commerce.

She was united in marriage to George H. Doty on October 11, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  George and Gina moved to Bremerton, Washington for about four years when George was stationed in the Navy.  She worked at a college there in Bremerton.  After George got out of the service, they returned to Tecumseh.  Soon after they started  the business Doty Feed and Produce together.

Gina worked as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses in Tecumseh over the years.  She was on the Board of Directors for the Johnson County Historical Society where she was an avid, involved member.  Gina was in charge of the Tecumseh All School Reunion for many, many years.  She volunteered her time in many different capacities in the community over the years.  Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, growing plants, movie nights in Auburn with the grandkids, babysitting grand puppies and spending time with Kitty.    

One of Gina's greatest joys was her grandchildren.  She attended all their sporting and academic activities.  Gina supported and participated in their hobbies as well: from craft shows to wood making projects, to late night Laker's basketball game watching.  For the last 24 years, Gina enjoyed her grandkids tagging along while she ran her errands all over town and making sure there were always baked goods ready for after school snacks.   

She passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2023 at the age of 73 years in her home in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  Gina was a loving mother, grandma, sister and friend. Her passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of those who knew her. 

Those left to carry on her beautiful spirit include her son Jeremy Doty and wife Cheryl and daughter Susan Kirkland and husband Richard all of Tecumseh, grandchildren, Austin Valenzuela, Erika Cruz, Alexander Cruz and Kyler Cruz, Sophie Kirkland, Richelle Wehling and husband Brandon and Calvin Antholz, brothers Randy Dittmer of Tecumseh, Richard Rauner and wife Diane of Humboldt, Michael Rauner and wife Maria of Lincoln and Jon Rauner and wife Julie of Omaha, sister Rosemary Pella of Tecumseh, sister-in-law, Judy Dittmer of Swanton and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Dittmer and Dorothy and Louis Rauner, brother Jerry Dittmer, husband George Doty and brother-in-law Vince Pella.  

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. The link to the livestream is now also available on the bottom of Gina's webpage.  

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the Johnson County Historical Society in her honor.
