Rebecca Stafford Obituary

                  Rebecca “Becky” (Bruns) Stafford

Becky’s guide through ups and downs in life was her never ending faith. She was born to Harvey and Wanda (Propp) Bruns of Plattsmouth, Nebraska on October 6, 1949.  She had a twin sister who passed away shortly after birth.  A polio survivor, but that never slowed her down from chasing her dreams.

After graduating from Plattsmouth High in 1967 she attended Cosmetology School and met Larry New Year's Eve of 1969 when they were abandoned at a party in Omaha during a blind date.  This may have caused some friction for Larry and the Bruns family, but everything worked out beautifully and Larry and Becky were married in Murray, Nebraska on December 20, 1975. They were married 48 years and had five children.

Becky loved spending time with her family.  When the children were growing up they enjoyed camping and fishing and would often venture out for long weekends and pitch a few tents.  She spent a lot of time attending her kids’ activities band, wrestling, baseball and football were just a few.  She also loved being a Grandma.  Every birthday Becky would call to sing Happy Birthday.

She was a huge Husker fan and cheered for the team every Saturday.  The Huskers won the weekend of her birthday which she felt it was just for her.  She also enjoyed playing cards, computer games, cooking, baking and collecting angels.  She spent most of her career in Medical Billing and retired from Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

She passed away unexpectedly at the CHI Heart Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska, Monday, October 7, 2024 one day past her 75th birthday.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Wanda Bruns, father-in-law Herbert Stafford and mother-in-law Edith Myers, twin sister Barbara Bruns, brother Michael Bruns and sister-in-law Judy Bruns.

She is survived by her husband Larry Stafford, daughters Mindy (Darren) Siebels, Dixie Stafford and Stacy (Brian) Shirley and sons Chad (Linda) Stafford and Derek (Jennifer) Stafford, grandchildren Brandon Stafford, Andruw Stafford, Hailey Thompson-Stafford, Ella Hood-Shirley, Jordyn Stafford, Dawson Stafford, Tyson Shirley, Ellie Stafford, Baylee Shirley, Mila Stafford, Easton Laflin-Stafford, Jaxson Laflin-Stafford and David Shirley and three sisters.

Becky's wishes were for no services to be held.   Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
