Randy Badertscher Obituary

Randy Lee Badertscher, 65, of rural Bern, KS, passed away March 31, 2022 at the Sabetha Community Hospital in Sabetha, KS.   He was born April 20, 1956 to Eldon and Aloma (Heidemann) Badertscher in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  He was baptized at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in rural Tecumseh.

After graduating from Tecumseh High School, Randy worked at Farmland and then owned the Table Rock Locker.  Known to many as RB, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, butchering, and having a beer with friends. He never knew a stranger and was great at making everyone smile.

On February 27, 1982, Randy married Sondra Carmichael (Stitt) and the couple moved to Bern, KS.  To this union two children were born: Traci and Scott.  The couple later divorced.  Randy continued to live in Bern and worked for Vic Krainbill for over 40 years, retiring in 2019.  In his later years, he enjoyed helping his son, Scott, on the farm and taking his grandkids on side-by-side rides.  Randy was the best “Grandpa on the Farm” to his 5 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.  He enjoyed telling stories, fishing, and doing chores around the farm with the grandkids.

He is survived by his children, Traci Badertscher (Leartist Williams) of Mobile, AL and Scott (Elizabeth) Badertscher of Bern, KS, grandchildren, LJ and Jalonte Williams of Mobile, AL and Brooklyn, Kinley, and Olivia Badertscher of Bern, KS, brother, Royce (Nancy) Badertscher of Tecumseh, NE, sister, Carol Ehlers of Steinauer, NE, sister-in-law Joyce Badertscher of Tecumseh, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roger and Ron Badertscher, brothers-in-law John Ehlers, Andy Carmichael, and John McClarnon, father-in-law Robert (Buck) Carmichael, and great-nephew Braden Badertscher.
