R. Harvey Schneider Obituary

 

R. Harvey Schneider, 75, of Pawnee City, Nebraska, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. He was born on November 12, 1946 to Norman and Gweneviere (Schneider) Schneider in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Harvey grew up on a dairy farm where he helped his father and brothers,  Harvey attended a one room schoolhouse with his brothers, and their mother was their teacher.  Harvey attended high school in Ceresco, Nebraska where he graduated from in 1965.  He then attended UNL Business school.

Harvey married Roxie Ann Miller in Ceresco, Nebraska, on August 19, 1967. To this union three children were born, Scot, Richard and April.

Harvey was in the United States Army as an E5 from March of 1969 to March of 1971.  He received medals for Army Occupation Medal (Berlin), Good Conduct Medal, Expert Infantry Badge. While stationed in Berlin, he met lifelong friend, Jerry Sapp.

After the service he worked at Goodyear, Central Textiles, Table Rock Bank and Pawnee County Bank (Union Bank).

Harvey was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Pawnee City, where he served on many committees and as a Layman/liturgist, and Harvey throughly enjoyed being part of the men's prayer breakfast group.

He was a member of Union Bank Board of Directors, VFW, American Legion, Pawnee City Chamber of Commerce, Pawnee City Economic Development.

Harveys hobbies and interest were: Gardening, Huskers, Royals, Jogging/walking, Sewing Machine repair, playing cards, attending his grandsons activities, being active in the church,  and a fountain of dad jokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Gwen Schneider, brother, Dwayne Schneider, and mother and father-in-law John and Emily Miller.

He is survived by his wife Roxie of Pawnee City, brother Harold Schneider of Lincoln, NE, sons, Scot (Kelly) Schneider of Melvern, IA, Rich Schneider, St. Petes Beach, FL, daughter April (Matt) McHenry of Burchard, NE, grandchildren, Gavin and Norman McHenry, Cayden and Alystar Schneider, Brandon and Gavin Marrs, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Memorial services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Pastor Dennis Hanneman officiating.  Visitation on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Inurnment at the Omaha National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, Nebraska at a later date.  Memorials to family's choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.wherrymortuary.com. Military Honors provided by Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard, Dalton-McHugh VFW Post # 5289 and Pawnee City American Legion Post #168
