Patricia “Pat” Jean (Stauffer) Badberg, 94, of Humboldt, Nebraska was the eldest daughter born to Oliver J. and Nora Bell (Johnson) Stauffer. She was born in Richardson County on June 13, 1928 and attended grade school at Union Hill District #68. Patricia graduated from Bern High School in Bern, Kansas with the class of 1945. She then attended Emporia State Teachers College where she received her Elementary Teaching Certificate. Patricia then taught rural country school at Union District #8 south of Du Bois, Nebraska and Speiser Center District #65 south of Humboldt.
On January 5, 1950, Pat was united in marriage to Richard Badberg in Pawnee City, Nebraska by Rev. B.F. Parnell. To this union a daughter, Kathleen, was born. Patricia worked as a typing secretary at O.A. Cooper Company for two years, the Humboldt Standard for a year, and for Drs. Heim and Stappenbeck’s office for a total of forty-one years before retiring. She enjoyed working on the farm with her husband, spending time with her family and was a former member of the Crescent Rebekah’s Lodge #100.
Patricia passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-four years and twenty-five days. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Badberg, sisters Emma Lou and Pearl Mayer, a brother Henry Stauffer, nephew Gene Mayer, sisters-in-law Carol Sue Bright and Norma King and brothers-in-law Dean and Raymond Badberg.
Patricia is survived by her loving daughter Kathy Blecha and husband Mike of Humboldt, NE; a sister Ruth Ann Carrier of Vista, CA; step-sister Irene Planner and her husband Clarence of Iowa; sister-in-law Betty Stauffer of Humboldt, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.
Inurnment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the United Methodist Church or Colonial Acres Nursing Home.
