Norman Frederick Leuenberger, 82, of Tecumseh, passed away at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born to Fred and Irene (Fricke) Leuenberger on April 11, 1942 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Norman grew up west of Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh Public Schools with the Class of 1960. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. While he was in college he was in the ROTC and attended basic training and received his discharge from the U.S. Navy on March 8, 1965.
Norman was united in marriage to Carol Topp on June 6, 1971 at the United Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two daughters Sara and Jill. He and Carol made their home south of Humboldt that Norman and Harry Smith built together. Norman worked for Cooper Mills and later the elevator in Humboldt.
Later Carol and Norman divorced. He moved to Lincoln and worked for Seeds of Life Nursery and later returned to rural Tecumseh to be closer to family and lived in the St. Paul’s U.C.C. (Maple Grove) parsonage for over 20 years. Living outside Tecumseh gave Norman the opportunity to pursue more organic farming. He enjoyed raising rabbits, honeybees and other animals. Norman sold honey from his bees and fresh produce from his garden for many years. He was a very active church member and his faith was always very important to him. Norman was a very avid reader, especially books and articles relating to religion, horticulture and farming.
He is survived by his daughters, Sara Allen and husband Ed of Humboldt and Jill Allen and husband Travis of Beatrice, seven grandchildren, Damian Allen of Utica, Schuyler Allen and wife Kayleigh of Beatrice, Courtney Cudaback and husband Chad of Lincoln, Carissa Allen of Humboldt, Kendle Burow of Omaha, Caleb Allen and wife Alexis of Beatrice and Mariah Dissmeyer and husband Chase of Beatrice, 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way, brother Dan Leuenberger and wife Marilyn of Lincoln and sister Ruth Paper and husband Marty of Hamburg, IA, sister-in-law Joyce Leuenberger of Tecumseh, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert “Bob” Leuenberger.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, (Maple Grove) Church, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Inurnment will be in the St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska.
