Norma J. (Lacey) Burns

Norma Jane Burns was born to Norman and Mary (Anderson) Lacey on January 21, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was one of four daughters born to this union.  She grew up in Tecumseh, Nebraska and graduated from Tecumseh High School.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth “Bud” Pohlman on November 6, 1955 in Sidney, Iowa.  To this union three children were born.  Bud passed away on March 2, 1961, rural Johnson, Nebraska.   Norma married Pat Burns on December 4, 1961.   Pat and Norma made their home in Tecumseh.  Norma spent most of her adult life in the food service business owning the Country Cottage Inn for many years and cooking for the Johnson County Hospital. 

Norma loved cooking, bowling and spending time with her family.  When her health declined Pat and Norma moved to Beatrice.  She passed away November 9, 2020 at the Beatrice Community Hospital at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 18 days. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Pohlman, sister, Dorcas Pella, daughter, Dee Chubick, son, Brian Burns, brother and sister in law, John and Shirley Burns, sisters-in-law, Frannie Hobbs, Sandy Burns and Bea Burns.

Norma is survived by her husband, Pat J. Burns of Beatrice, sons, Dean Pohlman and wife Leann of Eagle and Larry Pohlman and wife Jean of Syracuse, daughter, Patty Burns of Beatrice, son-in-law, Jerry Chubick of Auburn, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren,  sisters, MaryAnn Damme and husband Wes of Cook and Deborah Lacey of Florissant, CO, brother-in-law, Bob Pella of Beatrice, brothers and sisters in law, Mike and Elaine Burns of Stockton, CA, Tom Burns of Lincoln and Bob and Jean Burns of Humboldt and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Norma’s wishes were to be cremated.   A memorial service will be held at a later date.
