Mary Ellen Thomas

Mary Ellen Thomas, 59, of rural Dawson, Nebraska was born on April 17, 1960, in Falls City, Nebraska to Frank J. and Mary Elizabeth (Finchun) Thomas.  Mary was the youngest of four children and was raised on a farm near Dawson.  She graduated from Dawson-Verdon High School with the class of 1978.  After graduating, Mary lived with her family on an acreage outside of Dawson where she helped with the daily chores and took care of her mother and brother.  Mary passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the Falls City Care Center in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of fifty-nine years, seven months and twenty-four days.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Virginia (Gerald) Estes.

Mary is survived by her brothers: Frank Thomas of Falls City, NE; Ray (Sharon) Thomas of Salem, NE; niece Lori (Brennan) Durand of Nebraska City, NE; nephew Ray Estes and special friend Chris of Eagle, NE cousins Brenda (Leon) Wolf and Rebecca (Guy) McCurdy of Oklahoma, great-niece Heidi (Troy) Patterson of Lincoln, NE; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Delhay officiating.

Visitation will be held from noon-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 2- 4 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Starr Cemetery in rural Dawson.

Memorials contributions may be given to the Richardson County Cancer Fund.
