Lynda Jane (Petersen) Blessing

Lynda Jane Blessing was born to Lyle and Verna (Anderson) Petersen on February 3, 1957 in Tilden, Nebraska. She grew up in Tilden with her six brothers, Donn, Robert, Doug, twins Rick and Ron, and Keith. She was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden, Nebraska. Lynda graduated from Elkhorn Valley High School in Tilden with the Class of 1975. 

She was united in marriage to Dan Blessing on July 16, 1977 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden.  This union was blessed with three sons, Christopher Charles, Kelvin Lyle and Kyle Gene.  Dan and Lynda moved to Tecumseh where they raised their family.

Lynda worked at the Camelot Inn, (where she met her husband Dan), Gas N Shop, as a bookkeeper for Harritor Farms (Campbell’s Soup) from 1992-1997, in Human Resources for the Department of Corrections at the Omaha Correctional Center, as a receptionist/front office staff for the Johnson County Medical Center and later retired from Tecumseh Family Health. 

She and Dan were members of the Tecumseh Presbyterian Church until its closure.  They then joined the St. Paul’s U.C.C. (Maple Grove.) Church.  Lynda and Dan both enjoyed watching bluebirds and she was a member of Bluebirds Across Nebraska (B.A.N.) and Missouri Bluebird Society together with him. She loved the outdoors, bowling, golfing, baking, and especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. 

Lynda passed away June 4, 2024 at her home in Tecumseh, surrounded by her loving family.  She will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by her husband Dan, sons Christopher and Brie Blessing and son Tyler, Kelvin and Kristin Blessing and children Norah and Quincy and Kyle and Emily Blessing and children Harrison and Hazel, brothers Donn and Becky Petersen, Doug and Deanna Petersen, Rick Petersen and special friend Stephanie and Keith and Tina Petersen, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Sarah Mueller, brother-in-law Dave and wife JoD Blessing and many friends.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ron Petersen and Robert Petersen and wife Peggy, parents-in-law Chuck and Donita Blessing, sister-in-law Sally Hutt, brothers-in-law, Jerry Mueller and Jim Hutt and special niece Ann Hutt.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2024 at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Maple Grove) rural Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. Register book signing will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1-5 p.m., with family greeting friends from 1-3 p.m. at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Private family inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska at a later date.
