March 22, 1963 ~ July 18, 2023 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Obituary

Lonnie Lynn Pooch, 60, of Tecumseh, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Born to Rudolf ‘Rudy’ and Welda (Rossberg) Pooch on March 22, 1963, Lonnie grew up in a German-speaking home and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. After graduating from Tecumseh High School in 1981, Lonnie attended Southeast Community College in Milford, earning a degree in Automotive Mechanics and went to work for his brother at Fred’s Repair in Tecumseh for several years. Lonnie went on to attend Northeast Community College in Norfolk where he earned a utility line degree and subsequently relocated to Minden and then Grand Island, Nebraska while working for Southern Public Power.

Lonnie married Dana Ramsey in 1993 to which two daughters were born, Michaela Anna and Rudy Leigh Pooch. In 1997 he began a career with Omaha Public Power District working out of the Tecumseh, Louisville and then Syracuse offices. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Although Lonnie was only 8 years old when his father passed, his dad’s work ethic and skill as a blacksmith and craftsman was a driving force for Lonnie. He was an extremely hard worker and was known for meticulous craftsmanship regardless of the task, electrical work, woodworking, polishing his Harley or tending to his yard and home. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapshooting with his girls on their land south of Tecumseh. Nothing made Lonnie more content than exploring and simply enjoying his farm. He believed in ‘working hard and playing hard’ and loved music, dancing, supporting his girls in their activities, and vacationing. He enjoyed having guests at ‘the barn’ where he proudly displayed his extensive collection of Falstaff memorabilia.

Lonnie was proceeded in death by his father Rudolf (1971), mother Welda (2010), and infant brother Franz. He is survived by his daughters, Michaela and Rudy Pooch and special best friend Jennett Robinson. Lonnie often referred to his only sister, Ingrid, as his ‘second mother’. She and her husband Jay Lovitt reside in Urbandale, Iowa. His surviving brothers are Fred Pooch (Petey) of Tecumseh, Kurt Pooch (Teresa) of Hastings, Iowa, and Michael Pooch of Buffalo, Wyoming. ‘Uncle Lonnie’ will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
