Lila Hutt Obituary

Lila M. Hutt, 86, of Tecumseh, passed away at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Monday, November 7, 2022. She was born to Wilbur and Frieda (Poppe) Niemann on August 18, 1936 at rural Tecumseh, Nebraska. Lila was baptized and confirmed at Osage Church north of Cook.  She attended Rock School District through 8th grade and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1954.  

In 1955 she married her high school sweetheart, Keith H. Hutt and became a devoted mother to three children, Larry, Steve, and Dave.  She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Tecumseh serving in various officer roles, on committees, and participating in Mary’s circle.  Lila worked at the Tecumseh Federal Bank for many years as Treasurer and became a member of the Board of Directors for a few years after retiring in 2001. She enjoyed socializing with friends and was a member of PEO, Friends In Council, active on bowling teams attending state and national tournaments, and playing cards with friends.

Lila enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables, especially pickles and tomatoes. She loved flowers and spent many hours in her flower gardens. For many years, she attended Husker football games and enjoyed taking vacations with family and friends.

She was known for her kindness and caring for others. Spending time with her family and friends was her favorite past time along with attending many children and grandchildren activities.  She always had every activity on the calendar trying not to miss any. The holidays were her favorite time of year as she enjoyed decorating, baking and sharing delicious candy and cookies, and entertaining with her family and friends.

Survived by husband Keith of 67 years; sons Larry (Lynn) Hutt of Lincoln; Dave (Becky) of Beatrice; grandchildren Logan Hutt and Makenna Hutt of Lincoln. Her survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Steve, and step grandson Shane.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Makena Riungu officiating. The service was also livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page.  A link to the livestream is now available on the bottom of Lila's webpage.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Private family inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
