Leslie L. Heidemann, 67, of rural Tecumseh, Nebraska went to be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Les was born to Leland and Lola (Caspers) Heidemann on December 14, 1953 at Pawnee City, Nebraska. Les was baptized and confirmed at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He grew up on his parent’s dairy farm and his mother said as a young boy, he was always happiest on a tractor. He attended St. Peter’s Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Elk Creek High School with the Class of 1972. Les was proud to be part of the Elk Creek Antler football team his senior year that placed first in the Homesteader's Conference and were rated 10th in the state in 8-man football at the end of the season. He enjoyed participating in the Elk Creek Alumni Plays for many years. Les rang the bell at St. Peter’s Church for many years, a tradition he continued from his father Leland.
He farmed for over 40 years with his brother Lavon. In later years, he loved imparting wisdom to his nephew Bryan on how to farm correctly. Les loved farming and raising cattle and also worked at the Tecumseh Locker and for Speckmann Auction and Realty Company. He also trucked for many years hauling hogs for Dalen Beethe. In his earlier years, Les was a member of the Tecumseh Fire Department. Some of his deepest friendships were centered around his work relationships.
Les married Kathy Buethe on Sept. 4, 1982 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Although later divorced, they remained life long friends. He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Hippen) Scott on April 6, 2013 at the Convent House in Steinauer, Nebraska. Les welcomed her children, Brandon, Brian and Jamie and grandchildren into his family. He lost his soul mate when Dorothy passed away February 28, 2021.
Les is survived by his brothers, Lanie Heidemann and Lavon Heidemann and wife Robin and sister, Lois Bohling and husband Mark all of Elk Creek, Dorothy’s children and grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale Hippen and special friend Sheila Deardon, John and Jackie Hippen and Mary and Stan Lenners, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents, Leland and Lola, and parents-in-law, Clarence and Arlene Hippen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska, with Rev. Bill Cornelius officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
