L. Sue (Glathar) Kurtz, 75, was born in Humboldt, Nebraska on February 17th, 1945, which was also her father’s birthday. She was the youngest of three children born to her parents, Lee and Lorene (Schuetz) Glathar. Sue grew up on the family’s farm north of Humboldt, Nebraska and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1963. She was an active in band, baton twirling, cheerleading and many other activities within her community.
Sue went on to marry John Trimble in June of 1963, and they made their home on the Trimble Family Farm, just south of Humboldt. John and Sue had two children, Jodi Renee and Cole Daniel. The couple would later divorce. After living in Des Moines, Iowa for many years, Sue and Greg Kurtz, whom she was with for 28 years, relocated to Bradenton, Florida in 1997 where Sue continued her work in credit supervision.
Sue peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on the 7th of January, 2021, at Lakewood Ranch Hospice near their home in Bradenton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Scott Glathar, great-nephew Austin Glathar and son-in-law Kelly Dirks.
Sue is survived by her husband Greg Kurtz of Bradenton, FL; children: Jodi (Trimble) Dirks of Altoona, IA; Cole Trimble and wife Gina of Independence, IA; grandchildren: Zachary Dirks, Christian Dirks, Kylee Dirks, Alison Trimble and Katelyn Trimble, step-children: Jason, Jessica and Jenny Kurtz and their families, her brother Loren Glathar and wife Lenora of rural Humboldt, NE; her sister Nancy Horalek and husband Emil of rural Humboldt, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. This service will be immediately followed by a meal and fellowship at the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Garden in Humboldt.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family with a later designation.
