Joyce C. Bowman-Walsh

Joyce Clementine Bowman Walsh, 97, of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Premier Estates, Pawnee City.  She was born on July 10, 1922 to Clement Glen and Ina E. (Bond) Hubka in Akron, Colorado.

She moved with her parents and sister to Virginia, Nebraska and then to Pawnee City, Nebraska in 1930. She attended county school District 19 and graduated from Pawnee City High School.

Joyce married Kenneth “Sandy” Bowman on September 15,1940.  To this union five children were born; Roger, Connie, Duane, Kenneth and David.        

Joyce was a member of the First Christian Church for 60 years.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as Unit County and District President, was Worthy Matron for the Fern Chapter Order of Eastern Star for 60 years and was a member of the Priscilla Church Circle and Fairview Golf Club.

Joyce was head nurse at the Pawnee Memorial Hospital for 6 1/2 years. She worked at the Pawnee Republican and was Deputy Clerk and District Court Clerk of Pawnee County at the Courthouse for 23 years.

Joyce played softball for 30 years, played golf, cards and loved to dance.

Joyce married Keith Walsh on July 6,1991 after the loss of her first husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Ina Hubka, husbands Kenneth Bowman and Keith Walsh, son, Duane, sisters, Helen, Jean, Evie and Joanne, brother Allen Hubka.

She is survived by her children, Roger and Ivadene Bowman, Connie and Ronnie Shores, Linda Bowman, Kenny and Janice Bowman and David and Susan Bowman, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Judy (Denny) Crawford, sister-in-law, Kathaleen Hubka, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Celebration of Life:  10:00 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2019 at the First Christian Church/United Presbyterian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Officiating Reverend Duane Westing.  Visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
