Jose' Luis Reyes

Jose’ Luis Reyes, 72, of Tecumseh, passed away at his home Thursday, November 24, 2022.  He was born in Cerano, Guanjuato, Mexico to Eusebio and Esther (Castro) Reyes on February 19, 1950.  Jose' grew up in Mexico and came to the United States in his early 20's.  He met his wife Estella Flores in Utah and they were married two years later on December 3, 1983.  They had three children Jose, Margarita and Miguel.  They lived in Utah for about 20 years and then moved back to Mexico for nine years, after his father passed, to take care of his mother.  Jose' and Estella moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska in August of 2001.  Jose' worked in the farms in Mexico, a turkey plant and a cabinet factory in Utah and later worked for Smart Chicken in Tecumseh before retiring in 2003.   After retirement, Jose' was a landlord for many rental properties in town and had several side jobs doing lawncare and collecting metal scraps for sale.  Jose' was a hard-working handy man who always kept himself busy.  He loved helping others and enjoyed watching the news on t.v. 

He is survived by his wife Estella, son Jose', daughter Margarita, sisters Esther and Guadalupe, brother Abel and grandchildren, Anthony, Jessica, Angela, Miranda and Miguel.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, sons Miguel and Tony, sister Rosa and brother Bernabe. 

Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Christopher Kubat officiating. The service was also livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page for those unable to attend. A link to the livestream is now available at the bottom of Jose' website.  

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska.  Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church. A vigil will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Interment will be in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
