James “Jimmy” Alan Shreve, infant son of Seth and Courtney (Schaardt) was born at rest April 15.
When a baby dies, we don’t just mourn the baby, we grieve for the life they never got to live. Jimmy’s parents had dreams of bringing him home with his twin sister, hearing his giggle, sending him to his first day of school, joining dad on hunting trips, showing livestock at the county fair, working at the meat locker as a family, graduating from high school, getting married, and so much more.
In his short time Jimmy taught us to love what we have when we have it, because time is measured. He taught us to hold on tight and then to let go.
Jimmy was greeted at Heaven’s gates by his great grandpas James Friesel, Elmo Schaardt, Alan Sharpe, and Marvin Shreve. We know they are rocking our precious baby until we are reunited in our promise of heaven.
Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Seth and Courtney, twin sister Elmie, grandparents William and Linda Shreve and Dennis and Kimberly Schaardt; great grandmothers Donna Shreve, Nancy Sharpe, Sharon Friesel, and Lucille Schaardt; uncles and aunts Abby Shreve, Joe and Mallory Shreve, Charlie and Lauren Shreve, Colton and Megan Schaardt, and Clay Schaardt; cousins Ava, Leo, Raeya, and Olivia Shreve; dog friends Mae, Lou, Jet, and Jessie; and many other friends and family members.
Jimmy’s passing reminds us that life is a gift and parenthood is a privilege. It is his parent’s hope that in Jimmy’s memory you will take time today to hug your child a little tighter, because you never know when it could be the last.
