James “Jim” Lee Schultz
Jim was born August 14, 1952 at Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born 2 months prematurely with a collapsed lung and was baptized in the hospital after birth. He was confirmed on Palm Sunday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Maple Grove) on April 3, 1966 by Reverend Frederick Kruse. He attended country school at District 79 Maple Center until the 8th grade, and then attended high school at Tecumseh Public School where he graduated in 1970.
He started working with the State of Nebraska right out of high school with the construction department and then transferred to maintenance in 1985 where he worked up until his retirement in August 2017 after 47 years. He also worked many side jobs over the years at Ed’s Standard Service, Tecumseh Sale Barn, as well as helping on the family farm.
He married Linda Kay Troeger on April 20, 1974 at the Methodist Church in Tecumseh, and to this union two children were born. Heather Danielle and Dustin James. Jim and Linda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Jim was a hard worker his whole life and had a passion for anything farm related, tractors (especially John Deere), muscle cars, farming and animals. He loved anything with an engine in it. He knew how to work on just about anything, from construction related to something mechanical. In his younger years, he loved restoring old tractors. He became a proud grandfather to two girls and loved attending all their activities.
