James H. Koenig

James H. Koenig, 84, passed away on Mar 7, 2025. He was born July 29, 1940 to Herbert and Selma (Bersche) Koenig. He grew up in the Beatrice and Plymouth, NE area. After high school, in 1959, he joined the US Navy. From 1959-1963 he was active duty, and in the Naval Reserves from 1963-1965. During his time in the Navy, he received training as a diesel mechanic. This training led to a life-long career as a self-employed diesel mechanic. He truly enjoyed his work and often said he was blessed to have never worked a day in his life. After his release from active duty, he met Marilyn Witte. They were married in May of 1964. Their son, Jamie, was born in 1966. Their daughter, Amy, was born in 1972. After Marilyn’s death in 1994, he met and married Francie Trovato in 1996.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert Koenig and Selma (Bersche) Koenig, brother Lester Koenig, sister Ione (Koenig) Bessler, wife Marilyn (Witte) Koenig, and wife Francie Trovato.

He is survived by children, Jamie Koenig (Cher), and Amy Logan (Scott); grandchildren Josh Logan and Sarah Schommer (Ryan).

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Hugh Giesbrecht officiating.

Interment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
