Heidi Parrish Obituary

Heidi Lynn (Seele) Spier Parrish July 21, 1982 – March 7, 2022.

Heidi was born to Barbara (Finley) Spier and Richard Seele in Houston, Texas.  As a little girl, Heidi was ornery, sassy and loved to snuggle. She loved chasing her big sister around and taking care of her little brother. She was also very competitive, which led her to compete in numerous sports in school. Heidi started elementary in Tecumseh and attended until 4th grade, until she lived with her grandparents for a year attending Hiawatha Elementary. She returned to Tecumseh in 5th grade where she continued her education until graduating in May 2000. While attending school, Heidi let her competitive streak shine while competing in basketball, volleyball, track and softball all through school.  Growing up Heidi learned her musical roots including piano and trumpet as well as baking, sewing, arts and crafts from her grandmother Louise Finley. Heidi was baptized and grew up in the Baptist Church learning her deep faith through her  grandfather Vernon Finley. In recent years, attending Messiah Lutheran in Lincoln with Liz and Tony’s family.

Heidi enrolled in the Army in 2002 at the age of 19 years. Due to health reasons she was unable to continue after her AIT training and was honorably discharged. She had dreams of being a paratrooper. Despite all of this, she still continued to support local service members through the American Legion. Heidi attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln from 2009 to 2013, where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She also served as President of the Student Senate while there.

Heidi was united in marriage to Todd Parrish on October 5, 2013 at Kirkman’s Cove. Heidi helped raise and thought of Todd’s children Josh and Cassie as her own, helping them through their lives, with their triumphs and their struggles. She also was the best Dog Mom to Buddy. She became a Mimi to her 3 grandchildren, who became the light of her life. She was also the picture happy Aunt Heidi to her nieces and nephews.

In her life, Heidi held many different positions in healthcare. In high school she worked as a lifeguard and a laundry aide at Belle Terrace. She later obtained her CNA and Med Aide licenses and continued to work at Belle Terrace and Gramercy Hill. She was currently employed since May 2014 with the State of Nebraska as an accounting specialist.

Heidi loved life and all the people in it. She loved taking pictures and capturing every moment and making sure she talked you through every moment as well. She spent her free time taking trips with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed camping, boating and just living life to the fullest. She attended all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews events. If she couldn’t make it, she made sure to ask someone to take pictures for her, although, nobody ever did as good of a job as she did! Her family and friends describe her as the glue that held everyone and everything together. She led with her heart and that led her to be the caring, gracious, kind, loyal, loving, spunky person we all knew her to be.  She passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2022 at the age of 39 years.
