Harold Andrew Gottula

August 19, 1935 ~ August 13, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Harold Andrew Gottula, 87, of Steinauer, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital.  He was born August 19, 1935 to Albert C. Gottula and Esther Marie (Damm) Gottula in Table Rock, Nebraska. He was the youngest of six children. Harold grew up on his family homestead in the Clear Creek Township on the original Gottula Homestead and worked and cared for his parents and family. Harold devoted his life to caring for others and putting others first, even in his final days.

Harold graduated from Table Rock High School in 1952 and married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Jean Bowman, on August 10, 1956.  Beverly and Harold shared 67 years together, raising a family of three boys and three girls. Harold attended the University of Nebraska and always stressed the importance of education to his family and children.  He made sure that they were all able to achieve their goals.  His children all have a college education with 6 bachelor's degrees, 2 masters degrees and Doctorates of Medicine and Law.  Harold served on the Table Rock Board of Education for over 30 years, and in the role of President of the School Board, he handed each of his children their high school diploma.

He also supported his community over the years, serving on the Table Rock Town Board, Volunteer Fire Department and performing community service at the Table Rock Cemetery.  He worked at the Skelly Station in Table Rock, managed the Farmers Cooperative in Table Rock for many years, and worked for Binder Brothers.

Our father and grandfather set the bar high by setting the expectations of service to others, working hard, taking responsibility and having a kind heart.  He raised strong and successful men and women who in turn have raised another strong and successful generation.  He is treasured as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and mentor.  His legacy lives on with his family. We love you Dad!

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and his grandson Kahlil V King, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, and his children: Alan and Bonnie Gottula of Wayne, Nebraska, Bradley and Janet Gottula of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ryan and Stefanie Gottula of Lincoln, Nebraska, Linda and Daniel Mazour of Franklin, Nebraska, Kathryn and Jaime Elias of Manhattan Beach, California, Lisa and Brian Lockwood of Daphne, Alabama, his grandchildren, Drew, Reed, Cole, Trevor, Bryan, Laura, Hannah, Paige, Kourtney, Erin, Meaghan, Dana and Gunnar, and 16 great-grandchildren.
