Georgene F. (Brammann) Meyer

Georgene F. Meyer was born to George and Mary Jean (Neukirch) Brammann on November 4, 1948 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  After graduating from Tecumseh Public Schools in 1967, she attended Joseph’s College of Beauty in Beatrice, Nebraska receiving her cosmetology degree.  She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.

Georgene and Loran Meyer were united in marriage on July 10, 1970 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.  For the first few years, she worked as a beautician until she chose to stay home to raise her family. 

She enjoyed making her house a home.  You would often find her outdoors tending to her flowers, yardwork, and garden.  Her other interests included watching sports, crafting, home decorating and shopping.  But most of all, Georgene loved to spend time with family and visit with her friends.  Everyone that knew Georgene could see the many sacrifices she made to care for her closest family members. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion and big heart. 

She passed away January 29, 2023 at the age of 74 years.

Left to celebrate her life are her daughters, Angela Schmit and husband Dan of Pawnee City, Susan Frederick and husband Chris of Plattsmouth and Jennifer Lempka and husband Donovan of Lincoln, grandchildren, Craig Schmit (Ali), Kellie Mallam (Chris), Nathan Frederick, Lauren Lempka and Aleah Lempka, great-grandchildren, Haley Schmit, Taya Schmit and Adalynn Mallam, sister, Marie Burke and husband Michael of Omaha, sisters-in-law, Bernice Rasa and husband Robert of Lexington, MO and Elizabeth Longan and husband Robert of Stigler, OK and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Georgene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loran (Nov. 9, 2021), parents in law, George and Minnie (Baucke) Meyer, son Steven Lynn Meyer (Nov. 12, 2008), granddaughter Brianna Lynn Lempka (March 20, 2012) and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Luetta and Wilbur Hitzeman, Leola and Eugene Bartels and Bernitta and Otto Finke. 

Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Thomas McGuire officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  The family will be available to greet friends before and after the rosary.  

Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Interment will be in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
