Gary Bucher Obituary

Gary Allen Bucher, 83, of Auburn, Nebraska was born on February 25, 1938 in rural DuBois, Nebraska to Leo and Alma (Fruhbauer) Bucher.  He was one of seven children born to this union.  Gary attended Sunny Slope country school and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1956.  On August 24, 1958, Gary was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Lauralee Bexten at the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt.  To this union two children, Steven and Lisa, were born.  On January 30,1962, Gary was inducted into the U.S. Army and served his country until being honorably discharged on January 29, 1964.  He returned home and farmed the home place with his father and later with his brother.  Gary and Lauralee moved to Auburn, Nebraska in April of 2006 after retiring.  Gary was a member of the Christian Church in Humboldt before transferring his membership to the Presbyterian Church in Auburn and later to the Christian Church in Brownville where he and Lauralee were currently members.

Gary went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-three years, five months, and twelve days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert “Bob” Bucher, sisters: Marilyn (Ommo) DeJonge, Betty (Dwayne) Kistner, Jannette (Clayton) Boring, brother-in-law Ron Rist, nephews: Russel Usher, David and Leland DeJonge, great-grandson Tanner Bucher and step-grandson Marcus Latas. 

Gary is survived by his loving wife Lauralee Bucher of Auburn, NE; son Steven Bucher and his wife Teresa of Humboldt, NE; daughter Lisa Bucher of Auburn, NE; grandchildren: Rochale Schriner and husband Joe of Merna, NE; Logan Bucher and special friend Ashley Ternus of Columbus, NE; Jarrod Coiner of Auburn, NE; step-grandchildren: Daa (Scott) Wiemers of Table Rock, NE; Christopher Latas of Humboldt, NE; great-grandsons: Sean and Elijah Bucher of Fullerton, NE; his brother Gerald Bucher and wife Shirley of Mariana, AZ; his sister Sherryn Rist of Humboldt, NE; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at The Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Rick Boring officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday,, August 10, 2021, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Interment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Harvey-Mann Legion Post #269 and the Nebraska Army Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
