Frieda T. (Hoesche) Wagner, 72, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on October 28, 1950, in Crete, Nebraska to Frank and Ella (Westerman) Hoesche. She grew up in Crete and attended St. James Catholic grade school. Frieda graduated from Crete High School with the class of 1970. On February 5, 1970, she was united in marriage to Robert John Wagner in North Platte, Nebraska. The couple moved to various states across the U.S. before settling in California. It was there that two children, Quentin and Mary, were born to this union. The couple later moved back to Hazard, Nebraska and after divorcing, Frieda moved with the kids to Schuyler, Nebraska. It was there in 1985, that Frieda made her first quilt. Little did she know that would be a passion of hers that turned into a business opportunity. In 2012, Frieda started her quilting business “Creative Collectible Quilts” which was housed at the CCC Entrepreneurship Center in the bottom of the NPPD building in Columbus, Nebraska. She later moved the business to Humboldt, Nebraska in 2014 and has operated it with her daughter Mary on the east side of the square.
Frieda passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of Seventy-two years, four months, and two days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert, brother Francis Hoesche, her sister Betty Ann (Otto) Krivohlavek, and brothers-in-law Frank Matejka III and Lyle Dovenbarger.
Frieda is survived by her son Quentin Wagner and his wife Yong Park of Norfolk, NE; daughter Mary White and her husband Dustin of Humboldt, NE; grandchildren: Jessica Hoss and husband Jim of Kearney, NE; April Roth and husband Mitch of Lincoln, NE; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ed Hoesche of California, John Hoesche and wife Julie of Grand Island, NE; Bernard Hoesche and wife Susan of Crete, NE; William “Bill” Hoesche and wife Sylvia of Wilber, NE; Joe Hoesche and wife Cindy of Kramer, NE; sisters: Veronica Matejka of Humboldt, NE; Mary Harmon and husband Rich of Columbus, NE; Cathy Dovenbarger of Columbus, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. Inurnment will be at the Dunning Cemetery in Dunning, Nebraska at a later date.
