Evelyn Doeschot Obituary

Evelyn (Dobesh) Doeschot of rural Burchard, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, peacefully in her home at the age of 87 years, two months and one day, with family by her side. She was born to Thomas and Mary (Rejda) Dobesh on May 6, 1934 in David City, Nebraska. Evelyn grew up on the family farm in rural Butler County, Nebraska and graduated from Brainard High School. She moved to Lincoln after high school where she met Owen Doeschot.

Evelyn and Owen eloped on June 25, 1954, after having dated for three months. They had two children, Connie and Laura. They started out with a farm in Lancaster County and relocated to Pawnee County in the mid 1960’s where they continued their love of farming. Evelyn personally ran the hog operation while Owen worked the fields and tended to the cattle. She later retired from Campbell Soup in Tecumseh, Nebraska. They were members of the First Christian Church in Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Evelyn had a great love of family, friends, and animals, especially her dogs. She was an avid baker who was known for her runzas and kolaches. No one was ever hungry when Evelyn was around. She loved dancing, especially to Polka music. While her grandchildren were in 4-H, all the children at county fair became her grandchildren and were provided with food, water, and SUNSCREEN. One of her favorite hobbies was walking with her dogs, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was still walking at least 2 to 4 miles a day in her mid-80’s. She loved to travel and was hiking mountains still into her late 70s.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Connie (Jim) Rule of Burchard, Nebraska and Laura Doeschot of Orange County, California; grandchildren Jennifer Pope (Erik Lofts) of Geneva, Nebraska, Angela (Matt) Sholty of Pawnee City, Nebraska, Kerry (Kyle) Renz of Summerfield, Kansas, Clinton (Delia) Dahms of Hornick. Iowa, Grant (Jessica) Dahms of Onawa, Iowa, Jesse (Elizabeth) Rule of Westmoreland, Kansas, Kayla Glass of Orange County, California; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anne (William) Boettcher, Arleen Stubblefield, Betty (Joe) DeLeeuw, William Jr (Alice) Doeschot; many beloved nieces and nephews.
