Ernestina Mejia 64, of Omaha Nebraska, passed away Tuesday March 18, 2025, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was cared for by Rebbeca Hernandez and Nikki Mink. She was born to Cornelio Martinez Sr and Ramona Torres Martinez on June 11, 1960. Ernestina started work at a young age out in the fields and helping around the house.
She was united in marriage to Marcos Mejia Sr in Herford, Texas. To this union three children were born, Amanda Hernandez, Marcos Mejia Jr, and Adela.
Ernestina attended church at Dios Es Amor in Tecumseh Nebraska at the First Baptist Church. Her pride and joy were her grandkids. During her free time, she enjoyed watching her show “Pasion de Gavilanes”, playing Spanish bingo, and watching the Green Bay Packers play. She also enjoyed going to the Casino with her granddaughter Rebbeca and sister Maria.
She is survived by her daughter; Adela, grandchildren; Rebbeca Hernandez, Arturo Hernandez, Marco Hernandez, Jennifer Hernandez, Bon Mejia, Abby Mejia, Flo Mejia, Ernestina Mejia, Adriana Castro Mejia and Leslie Castro Mejia and Axel Mejia, great grandson; Elijah Hernandez, sister; Maria Martinez, and brothers; Cornelio Martinez Jr, Raul Martinez, Gilbert Martinez Sr and Martin Martinez.
Ernestina was proceeded in death by her beloved husband; Marcos Mejia Sr, daughter; Amanda Hernandez, son; Marcos Mejia Jr, parents; Cornelio Martinez Sr and Ramona Torres Martinez, brothers; Elias "Lee" and Rudy Martinez, sister; San Juana Plunkett, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the First Baptist Church (Dios Es Amor) in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Mario Moreno officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the family's choice.
Interment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
