Dorothy Helen Siske was born to John and Helen Kruse on February 1, 1930 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She lived near Burchard growing up. Dorothy attended Windy Hill School through the eighth grade and graduated from Burchard High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage to Eugene Siske on June 14, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beatrice, Nebraska. After their marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Steinauer where they raised eight children.
Dorothy was a homemaker and always had a huge garden and did canning every year for her family. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Her family favorites were cinnamon rolls, cookies and angel food cakes. Eugene passed away in 1994. After her house burned, Dorothy moved to Tecumseh in 2010, where she resided until she passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Siske of Tecumseh, Donna Marrs and husband Don of Colon, Bill Siske of Nemaha, Jim Siske and wife Peggy of Steinauer, Nancy Ethington of Chula Vista, CA, Janet Herman of Lincoln, Mary Berg and husband of Blair and Richard Siske of Tecumseh 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Shirley Kruse of Albuquerque, NM, Darlene Kruse of Lexington and Marjorie Kruse of Canon City, CO, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, grandson Junior Marrs, son-in-law Robert “Rufus” Ethington, brothers Carl, Walt, John, Harry and Donny Kruse and sisters Annie Studeville and Lorena Higgins.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the family’s choice.
Private family inurnment will be in the Burchard Cemetery, Burchard, Nebraska.
