Dorothy (Hippen) Heidemann, 59, of rural Tecumseh, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at her home. She was born to Clarence E. and Arleen Louise (Steiner) Hippen on July 28,1961. Dorothy grew up on a farm on the north side of Lewiston, Nebraska, where her family had a small dairy herd. Dorothy was active in 4-H, showing cattle, horses and making baked goods. She enjoyed playing softball with friends during the summer. In high school, Dorothy participated in band, pep club and FHA. A highlight of high school was going on a 4-H trip to Washington, D.C. Dorothy enjoyed hanging out and driving around with her classmates. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1979. After graduation, Dorothy attended the Southeast Community College, Beatrice Nursing Program and received her LPN degree in 1981. Dorothy was a caring nurse and loved taking care of others. She worked at the Johnson County Hospital and Tecumseh Family Health Clinic for many years and recently was working for Home Instead in Beatrice.
Dorothy married Mark Scott and they had three children, Brandon, Brian and Jamie. On April 6, 2013, Dorothy was united in marriage to Les Heidemann in Steinauer, Nebraska. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, Nebraska. Dorothy enjoyed checking cattle, gardening and canning, going to the casino, traveling, spending time with her precious grandchildren, keeping Les on the straight and narrow and going for drives in the evenings.
She is survived by her husband, Les, children, Brandon Scott and wife Cortney of Gretna, Brian Scott and fiance' Jennifer Hofner-Smith of Bertram, TX and Jamie Rist and husband Marcus of Adams, five grandchildren, Charlie, Sam and Ellie Scott and Emery and Leighton Rist, siblings, Dale Hippen and special friend Sheila Deardon of Tecumseh, John Hippen and wife Jackie of Lewiston and Mary Lenners and husband Stan of Filley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lanie Heidemann, Lois and Mark Bohling and Lavon and Robin Heideman all of Elk Creek, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Arleen Hippen and parents-in-law, Leland and Lola Heidemann.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with Rev. Bill Cornelius officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Memorials may go to the Lewiston Cemetery.
Interment will be in the Lewiston Cemetery, Lewiston, Nebraska.
