Dorothy Mae (Hunzeker) Fritch, 87, formerly of rural Table Rock, Nebraska was born on December 1, 1932, in rural Table Rock, Nebraska to Benjamin and Josephine (Karas) Hunzeker. She was raised on the family farm near Table Rock and attended District #32 (The Rock School) country school. Dorothy then attended Humboldt High School in Humboldt where she graduated with the class of 1950. On October 23, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage by Rev. Ward Merritt to Rudy Fritch, Jr. at the home of her parents. To this union three sons, Alan, Kenneth and Donald were born. The couple lived and raised their family on the Fritch farm southeast of Table Rock. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and wife that immersed herself in the daily activities of her boys and the farm. While living on the farm, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, embroidery and was the “original” scrapbooker. Dorothy was a member of the Jolly Workers Club, ZCBJ Lodge #84, Table Rock Community Club, Table Rock Legion Auxiliary and the Rock School Foundation. She volunteered at the Table Rock Senior Center, helped with the Table Rock Living History Day and was a Cub Scout Den Mother when the boys were young.
Dorothy passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-seven years, three months and fifteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rudy “Junior”, an infant sister Evelyn, a sister Irene Albers, and brothers-in-law Clark Hunzeker, Carl Albers and Edward Fritch.
Dorothy is survived by her loving sons: Alan (Julie) Fritch of Valparaiso, NE; Ken (Lillian) Fritch of Beatrice, NE; Don (Kathy) Fritch of Fairbury, NE; grandchildren: Nathan (Carrie) Fritch of Colleyville, TX; Kelly (Dale) Haug of Centralia, KS; Jason (Lori) Fritch of Henderson, NV; Steven (Jennifer) Fritch of Rapid City, SD; Dustin (Amanda) Fritch of Beatrice, NE; Megan (Matt) Holes of Chetek, WI; Jared Fritch of Beatrice, NE; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Marge Hunzeker of Pawnee City, NE; Elma Lee Buchholz of Table Rock, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Private Family Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.
Visitation and viewing for the public will be held from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska.
Interment will be at the Bohemian Cemetery east of Table Rock.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions are suggested to the Table Rock Legion Auxiliary or ZCBJ Lodge #84.
