Doris Aylor Obituary

Doris Marjorie (Winchell) Aylor was born November 3, 1918 in Lewiston, Nebraska.  She passed from this life to her eternal life on September 5, 2019 at the age of 100 years, 10 months and 2 days.  She was the second oldest of seven children born to Robert J. and Vada K. (Gifford) Winchell.  Her very early years were spent in Lewiston and Steinauer, Nebraska, until their move to Pawnee City where she lived until her marriage.

Doris' father was killed in a tractor accident when she was 11 years old.  This necessitated that she and her two oldest brothers started working at a young age to provide for her family.  This instilled in her a strong work ethic which she exemplified throughout her lifetime.  Her mother had many health issues, and her youngest sister and brother said she was more of a mother to them than a sister.

Upon graduation from Pawnee High School in 1936, Doris worked as a teller in the Pawnee City Bank until her marriage to Alvah N. Aylor, Jr. on September 3, 1941.  To this union were born four children: Gary, Judy, Larry and Susie.  She was a stay at home mom until she started working at the State Bank of Table Rock, where she remained as a cashier and loan officer until her retirement.

As a young girl, Doris professed her faith in Jesus Christ, and was a life-long member of the Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the Table Rock Legion Auxiliary and served on the School Board, the Library Board and the Cemetery Board.

Doris loved to go dancing with her husband, enjoyed golfing, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sports and school activities.  One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Even though she attended many ball games for her children and grandchildren, Doris was not a real sports enthusiast.  That is until she got hooked on the Kansas City Royals several years ago.  Doris continued watching them until the end, and wasn't very happy when she couldn't get her game on t.v.  The highlight of this last year was a trip to Omaha in June to see her beloved Royals play.  It included a limo trip and being shown on the big screen as The Fan of the Game.

Doris was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie, her parents, and four brothers: Keith, Kenneth, Hollis and Jim Winchell.

Doris is survived by her children: Gary and Deb Aylor of Pawnee City, Judy Aylor of Aurora, CO, Larry Aylor of Louisburg, KS and Susie and Dave Sochor of Doniphan; grandchildren, Joal and Jordan Sochor, RanDee and Gerry Krueger, seven great-grandchildren, Josiah, Joah, Jagur and Joalie Sochor and Hadley, Drake and Piper Krueger, sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Byford Anderson of Rapid City, SD, brother, Robert Winchell of Palm Desert, CA, sister-in-law, Mary Alice Winchell of La Mesa, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
